How I build a website that wins work

Three stages, starting with strategy rather than design, so the site is set up to win buyers before it ever goes live.

How the build actually runs. Three stages, guided all the way, not a website project that turns into another job for you to manage.

Strategy first. Then build. Then keep it winning.

Plenty of websites look perfectly nice and still lose the work, because they were built to a brief instead of a strategy. So I don’t start with design. I start by working out what your site is doing to buyers right now, and what it needs to do instead.

From there it runs in three stages. You get something useful early, before the full build is even finished, and you’re never left to figure the hard parts out on your own.

Diagnose and clarify

Get the strategy right and find where the site is losing buyers, before anything gets built.

Design, build and connect

Build the site and wire the pages, proof, tools, CRM and follow-up together so nothing leaks.

Launch and improve

Launch it, hand it over with training, then keep improving it on real data.

The three stages

In order, and each one gives you something useful in its own right, so you’re not waiting until the very end to see the value.

3 stages
1 Stage

Diagnose and clarify

Get the strategy right first

Before I build a single page, we work out what your site is actually doing to buyers, and what it should be doing instead. Most of the value of the whole project comes from getting this part right, because a beautiful website built on the wrong strategy still loses the work.

This is where the awkward questions get asked. Who is this really for? Why should a better-fit buyer choose you over the other three they’re weighing up? Where, exactly, is the current site letting people quietly rule you out?

This stage includes
  • A review of where your site wins buyers and where it loses them
  • A sales and marketing review
  • Ideal client and offer clarification
  • Competitor and differentiation review
  • The questions and objections your buyers work through
  • Your Website Scorecard
  • A priority plan of what to fix first

You come out of this stage with an honest verdict on where your site stands, sharper positioning, and a clear plan of what matters most. That’s useful on its own, even if you never built another thing.

The job: fix the strategy before anything gets built

2 Stage

Design, build and connect

Build it, wire it together

This is where the site gets built. Not just better-looking pages, but the whole thing wired together: the copy, the proof, the buyer education, the self-serve tools, and the CRM and follow-up behind them, all connected so nothing leaks.

You’re not left to write it all yourself or work out the structure. That’s the part owners dread, so it’s the part I take off you. I handle the structure and the copy, I mine the questions your buyers actually ask on sales calls, and I bring you in at clear decision points rather than making the whole thing another job on your plate.

This stage includes
  • Page strategy and buyer journey mapping
  • Core website copy
  • Bespoke design and build
  • Buyer education resources
  • Proof placement
  • Conversion paths
  • Self-serve buyer tools, planned and built
  • CRM and follow-up connection
  • Sales-support assets your team can use

The job: build the site that wins buyers, and connect it so nothing leaks

3 Stage

Launch and improve

Launch, hand over, keep winning

I launch the site, set up tracking so you can actually see what’s working, and hand it over properly, with training so it’s yours to use and update rather than locked away with me. A site you can’t change is a site that slowly goes stale, and that’s exactly what we’re avoiding.

Then the work doesn’t just stop, because a site that’s winning today can slip as buyers keep changing. For the first ninety days after launch I keep improving it, turning real buyer behaviour and sales feedback into the next round of changes.

This stage includes
  • Website launch
  • Tracking setup
  • CRM checks
  • Team handover
  • Website editing training
  • A performance review
  • Your first improvement priorities
  • A sales feedback loop

After the ninety days, you can carry on with the Optimisation partnership so we keep improving it together, or take the wheel and run it yourself. Either way, it’s built to keep winning.

The job: launch it, hand it over properly, and keep it winning

The process in one sentence

Diagnose what your site is doing to buyers and fix the strategy, build and connect the site that wins them, then launch it and keep improving it on real data.

The three stages, simplified
1. Diagnose and clarify. Get the strategy right before anything gets built.
2. Design, build and connect. Build the site and wire it together so nothing leaks.
3. Launch and improve. Launch, hand it over, and keep it winning.
What it asks of you

You’re busy. This is built so it doesn’t become another job you have to manage. Guided, structured, and done with you, not dumped on you.

You won’t be left staring at a blank page wondering what to write, or chasing me for updates. I run the strategy, I handle the structure and the copy, I mine the questions your buyers actually ask, and I bring you in at clear decision points.

Your job is to know your business and your clients, and to make the calls only you can make. Mine is pretty much everything else.

The free Scorecard is the same diagnostic I start every project with. Your site scored across the five things that win work, gone through together on a short call, before you commit to anything.
